Article on Financial Exploitation
By Caring for Hawaii's Elders
From Kevin:
In case you missed it, there was important article by Honolulu Advertiser Staff Writer Christie Wilson about the financial exploitation of an Aiea man. The exploitation was discovered by a middle-aged couple who had been helping the man sort through his problems. The article is an excellent example of how an elder can be manipulated and exploited. Here's part of the article:
"Halawa Heights couple Mark Aoki and Leiomi Kealoha, both 46, had no idea when they gave 82-year-old widower Robert Hikichi a lift that they would soon uncover a callous pattern of financial exploitation by a female acquaintance who had obtained the man's durable power of attorney over all his affairs."
It's a sad, disturbing story. Hard to believe there are people out there who would take advantage of an older person like this. James Pietsch of the University of Hawaii Elderlaw program used the word "evil" to describe such people. That word fits pretty good, in my opinion.

Open ones eyes. We are run in a government by swindlers. Wolves in sheep clothes. Our own government is being swindled by swindlers. Our own government is swindling us. One that is uneducated or elderly become easy target for scams of making money for free. They say don't believe in good things for free, there is a catch, and you are the prey. They say Satan looks like a person who could be a Model. Even Satan was thrown out of Heaven thinking he or she Was God.
